幸せを招くといわれている珍しい月虹（げっこう）が、１月７日の夜、石垣市の前勢岳山頂にある石垣島天文台から見られました。
月虹は、月の光が大気中の水滴で屈折して虹となって見える現象で、満月の夜などに現れる。色が薄く、肉眼では白く見える。
月虹は、ハワイでは、「ムーンボー」「ナイトレインボー」と呼ばれ、「幸せを招く」「願いがかなえられる」といわれている自然現象です。
